Welcome - Greetings !

Doc and Marshall King
Welcome Visitor from:

over 120 Countries

The wonderful song you are hearing is from an amazing guitar player named Thom Beckman, the song is called "Flamingo" and is from the album called 'I had a swell time', if you would like to learn or hear more about his music click here: Thom Beckman.com. They might not have had this music in Doc's time but we're sure he would appreciate it as he did most music and the arts, we can just picture him and Thom sitting out on the board walk or in the park listening to Thom's music as the town's people strolled, politely tipping their hats, and perhaps dancing to Thom's songs. To turn off the music at any time hit the stop/play button on the media player window above, hit the stop/play button again to resume the music or refresh (or reload) the page. If you are not hearing the music check your volume level, else try clicking on the song title above to launch your favorite media song player.

Use the controls in the player to Mute/Stop/Play/Adjust Volume
etc. Click the speaker in the player to mute the sound! This player is

LibreOffice Software Suite: On September 28th 2010 several members of the OpenOffice.org project formed a new group called The Document Foundation. The Document Foundation created LibreOffice from their former project in response to Oracle Corporation's purchasing of Sun Microsystems over concerns that Oracle would either discontinue OpenOffice.org, or place restrictions on it as an open source project, as it had on Sun's OpenSolaris.

It was originally hoped that the LibreOffice name would be provisional, as Oracle was invited to become a member of The Document Foundation. Oracle rejected offers to donate the OpenOffice.org brand to the project and demanded that all members of the OpenOffice.org Community Council involved with The Document Foundation step down from the OOo Community Council, citing a conflict of interest.

The Go-oo project was discontinued in favour of LibreOffice. Improvements made by the project are being merged into LibreOffice. Enhancements made in other forks are also expected to be incorporated into LibreOffice. Also underway is the reduction of Java dependency, with the goal of minimizing security issues and improving application stability.

As a result of the fork of OpenOffice.org into LibreOffice, and the resulting loss of developers, Oracle announced in April 2011 that it was terminating the commercial development of OpenOffice.org.

In June 2011, Oracle announced that it would contribute the OpenOffice.org code and trademark to the Apache Software Foundation, which decided to accept the offer and start an incubation process within the foundation. Google and Red Hat began to contribute programmers to LibreOffice in June 2011. So all hail LibreOffice, come visit the LibreOffice portion of our Office Software Suite Section on our Technology Page for more information. Keep on top of news announcements, developer tools, reviews, videos, new enhancements, and more.

* LibreOffice runs on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, Unix, and more platforms. It truly is a cross platform office suite package and...
* (Update) LibreOffice for Android:
Effective October 2015, the Document Foundation is proud to present LibreOffice Viewer for Android in this initial attempt to provide LibreOffice for the Android Operating system and platform of products (phones and tablets). It is now available for download on Google Play. The problem has been scaling the LibreOffice suite small enough to fit and run on most ARM processor based systems. Editing is still an experimental feature which has to be enabled separately in the settings, and is not stable enough for mission critical tasks. It will be enhanced in the future to a fully fledged editing solution with the help of developers. Visit the LibreOffice Android portion of our Office Software Suite Section on our Technology Page for more information. December 2nd 2015

Heritage
(A Family Tradition)

Here's a Taste (from what we know): It doesn't matter which side of the family you come from young Doc D. aka The Professor, or Old Doc D. there has been plenty of good lineage and care giving folks both men and women in the family tree. There's been a number of local and federally actively involved civil service and community based leaders (e.g selectmen, mayors, congressmen, representatives, and statesmen) advocating for the rights of citizens in the US, England in the House of Parliament, Europe, and the Middle East that we know of. There were two governors of Maine, two U.S. Senators (State of Maine and Minnesota), three newspapers, a print house and publishing firm (the Dingley Press) which among other things was one of Leon Leonwood Beans (L.L Bean founder) earliest tenants located in the basement of his first store and produced the greater part of the LL Bean Catalogs even today. There were two grandmothers of whom out of their own pockets would invite and feed numbers of enlisted men during WWI at the nearby staging area most of whom were away from their families to have full Sunday dinners before shipping out, they also fed countless low paid school teachers meals whom otherwise could not have afforded to do so during the time periods of WWI and WWII. There are relations to Harpers Ferry, Davy Crocket, Sea Captains, and Fairbanks, a Knight to the Vatican, a Prior of The Knights of Malta (Ven Sir Thomas Dingley), a part of the early Mayflower passengers and Plymouth Colony settlement, a greatly cherished and loved blacksmith for the Plymouth Colony who had his daughters hand in marriage asked for by one of Capt Miles Standish's sons.  A number of prominently decorated and honored officers, service men, and women  An initial member of the U.S. Navel Seabee's (WWII), as well as the U.S. Navel Deep Sea Divers Team in the South Pacific during WWII. A chairman of the U.S. House Committee of the Ways and Means (Nelson Dingley Jr) a friend of President William McKinley, and who in fact initially turned down the position offered by President McKinley of Secretary of the Treasury in order to better help and serve the American public in the position as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee considered to be one of the most powerful positions in congress even today.  There are several pioneers in fields of hydraulics, electronics computer systems and software, electronic communications, and civil engineering (developing of one of the nations first divided highways).  OK - Perhaps we're just being a bit too boastful in talking about them now, most of them were pretty modest folks, and still are, they did what they could and had to. They probably wouldn't care much for us speaking about them the way that we have, but we did - they deserve it. Anyway there's a taste, there's undoubtedly more yet to come.  -Stay Tuned - !
